Jeff Saturday
Colts center Jeff Saturday practiced with his team for the first time since undergoing arthroscopic surgery in his knee nearly a month ago. The twelve year veteran has been rehabbing his knee since the procedure was performed on August 10th.
Saturdayis an important player on the team and has been a long time starter for the Indinapolis Colts. During his tenure he has amassed four pr-bowl elections, two first team all-pro nods, and last year was part of the unit that allowed the fewest sacks in the league.
Although Jeff Saturday was able to participate in line drills today, it is unlikely that he will play in the final pre-season games. Indinapolis rarely plays their starters in the last game before the regular season, preferring instead to ensure that their starters are well-rested and uninjured. Head Coach Jim Caldwell doesn’t think that will change this week.
“If you look at our history, don’t expect anything to deviate from the norm in that regard,” Caldwell said. “Sometimes it depends a lot on the health of your team and those kinds of things as well. You take a look at those and have to adjust accordingly.”
