Saints Re-sign Bobby McCray, Save Money in Process

Bobby McCray

Bobby McCray was re-signed by the New Orleans Saints on Thursday.

Let it not be said that the New Orleans Saints front office doesn’t like to gamble.

After cutting defensive end Bobby McCray, seemingly out of nowhere, earlier this offseason, the re-signed him on Thursday according to Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk.com.

Although it all worked out in the end, the team risked losing McCray to another ream.

But their gamble paid off. By cutting and re-signing the veteran the Saints saved roughly $750,000.

McCray’s new deal has a base value of $1.5 million with an additional $1 million available in incentives.

If not released, the Saints would have owed him a $1.25 million roster bonus this month along with a $2 million base salary.
