The New Orleans Saints led Super Bowl XLIV for all of a blink of an eye in the third quarter.

After recovering an onside kick and finding the end zone for the first time in the game, the Saints surrendered their lead to the Colts who scored a touchdown on their first drive of the second half as well.

Joseph Addai capped the 10-play 76-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run to give the Colts a 17-13 lead. The drive took 5:26.

The question of whether Indianapolis killed the momentum New Orleans built up during their 13-0 scoring run was answered on the Saints’ next drive.

Drew Brees led his team on an eight-play scoring drive that was capped by a 47-yard Garrett Hartley field goal to close the gap. The kick also made history for Hartley as he became the first player in Super Bowl history to kick three 40+ yard field goals in the big game.

The Colts lead the Saints 17-16.
