The Washington Redskins have signed veteran safety Tyrone Carter, previously with the Pittsburgh Steelers, now that they know that safety Kareem Moore will be out for four to six weeks. Moore injured a ligament in his leg in Saturday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The 34-year-old Carter, 5’9”, 195 lbs. has been around and will not have trouble moving into defensive coordinator Jim Haslett’s 3-4 defense, according to the National Football Post. Additionally, Carter has worked with Washington’s linebackers coach Lou Spanos during their days in Pittsburgh together
After making two interceptions in a victory over the Denver Broncos last season, Carter was named the AFC defensive player of the week.
According to NFL.com, Carter is in his 11th season. He has been in Pittsburgh the last six seasons, playing in all 16 games in each of the last five.
