Rolando McClain signed a five-year, $40 million deal with the Raiders.
The numbers are in for Oakland Raiders first-round pick Rolando McClain’s contract and they are substantial.
The Alabama linebacker signed a five-year, $40 million deal late Wednesday night, which guarantees him at least $23 million according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
McClain’s contract is similar, financially at least, to the five-year $38.25 million deal ($23.5 million guaranteed) the Raiders gave Darrius Heyward-Bey last season.
The rookie will average $8 million per season in what could be the final year before a rookie cap is placed on the league.
To date, McClain is the highest draft pick to sign.
When Sam Bradford’s deal is in place with the Rams, it is expected to be record setting and will dwarf that of the Raiders rookie. Still, McClain did pretty well for himself.
