Cornerback Dunta Robinson has yet to see a snap with his new team in the preseason, but that will change Thursday night in Atlanta’s preseason finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Robinson, who signed as a free agent in the offseason after spending his first six seasons with the Houston Texans, is itching for the chance to get back on the field. A nagging hamstring injury has kept him sidelined, though he felt like he could have played last week in a 16-6 win against Miami.
He doesn’t think not playing yet during the preseason will affect him adversely.
“This ain’t my first rodeo. This is my seventh year, so I’m not worried at all,” Robinson said. “It’s just a different uniform. That’s the only difference. I’ve just got to come out here and translate the things I’ve done on the practice field into the game. I’m going out there to get work. I’m going out there to get my technique straight, get my feet straight. I’m just going out there to compete, so it’ll be a lot of fun.”
As much as Robinson wanted to play last week, a visit to the team doctor helped change his mind.
“I went to see the doctor and just had a tad bit of soreness in it and he said just give it another week,” Robinson said. “Honestly, it was the best thing I did because now it feels much better. Not rushing it was a good thing. Just coming out here getting focused and still getting the mental reps was what I had been doing. Now, I’ve been out here running around a little bit, so it’s time to put it on the field.”
