Raiders owner Al Davis may not have made a final decision on the future of Tom Cable, but at least one NFL coach wants to take his spot.
Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan told USA Today in no uncertain terms that he wanted the job.
“Hell, yeah, I’d have interest,” Ryan told the paper of the potential job. “I haven’t talked to Mr. Davis because he has a coach. Let’s see what happens.”
Despite having 23 years of coaching experience, including 12 in the NFL, Ryan has never been a head coach in the pros. Still, he’s confidently optimistic.
“I will be a head coach in this league, and I will be damn successful, too,” he said.
His brother twin brother Rex is the current head coach of the New York Jets.
