Initial tests revealed that Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker tore both the ACL and MCL in his left knee Sunday against the Houston Texans.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Welker is scheduled to undergo more tests on Monday morning to confirm the injury.

Schefter’s report confirms what everybody suspected and Welker’s family already knew.

“We’re sick. We’re absolutely sick,” Wes’ father Leland Welker told the Boston Globe. “We take all those hits and stuff all season long. And then just one fluke cut, and he just blows it out.”

As for his son’s mood following the injury… “He was really upset,” the leading receiver’s father said. “He didn’t feel like talking about it too much.”

His status remains very much in doubt for the playoffs.

Officially the Patriots had no update on the injury following the game.
