USC has offered current Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio the job as their new football coach.
The university sent Del Rio a contract already, according to to Scott Wolf of the L.A. Daily News.
The only question is, what will Del Rio do? He is currently locked in a game of chicken with Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver over his status for next season.
If Weaver terminates him, he will be owed a $15 million buyout. However, given that exorbitant amount of money, a full buyout is unlikely.
Perhaps the two will come to terms on some sort of a settlement that will allow Del Rio to take the job as the new Trojans head coach.
Meanwhile, Del Rio denied the reports Tuesday morning as he walked in to a meeting with the Jaguars’ owner that will likely determine his future with the franchise.
“That’s all speculation and hype,” Del Rio told reporters.
“(A)ll of those (reports) are a figment of other peoples’ imagination.”
