There was much concern among the Washington Redskins fan base—and possibly front office—Friday night when a report surfaced that head-coach-to-be Mike Shanahan may be interested in a job with the Houston Texans.
Mike Florio of PFT reports that Shanahan would be interested in taking over the Texans if current coach Gary Kubiak is dismissed at the end of the season. That report contradicts ESPN’s Adam Schefter who stated he would not take the job because of his previous relationship from Kubiak.
However, Friday’s report states that the potential reunion between Shanahan and his son Kyle, who is currently the offensive coordinator of the Texans, could be an attractive prospect for the coach.
Also in the mix is Texan’s GM Rick Smith who worked with Shanahan in a coaching capacity with the Denver Broncos.
With the season coming to a close on Sunday, expect the Shanahan rumor circus to be put to bed shortly.

Would he really wish Kubiak whom he coached with on the Broncos to be fired? When Mike Shanahan, who was previously the 49ers offensive coordinator, became Denver’s head coach he hired Gary Kubiak. In 11 seasons (1995-2005) as the team’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Gary Kubiak helped lead Denver to two Super Bowl titles.
Yeah it makes sense for Mike to want to coach with the Texans offensive coordinator, his son, Kyle Shanahan but I just don’t see how he turns down this Redskins offer and let his pal Kubiak keep his job.
