Of all the potential candidates the Seattle Seahawks had in mind for their head coaching job, Mike Shanahan was not one of them according to Mike Florio of PFT.
Sure, Pete Carroll was at the top of the team’s list after they fired Jim Mora last week, but they also interviewed Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier for the job. And his name was near the bottom of the list of names Seattle was pursuing as they went “big game hunting” for their next coach.
That list reportedly included the names Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden and John Fox.
So why no Shanahan? Timing? The former Broncos coach was already locked up by the Redskins by the time Mora was dismissed.
Still, it’s hard to believe that Paul Allen woke up on Friday and decided to make a coaching switch on a whim.
This is something that had been in the works for some time as evidenced by the secret meeting between Seahawks brass and Carroll last week in Los Angeles.
