The Seattle Seahawks have reached an agreement in principle with USC coach Pete Carroll that will make him the team’s new head coach and director of football operations.
An announcement is expected to be made within a few days according to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks seem to just be going through the motions and completing their interview schedule.
Among the candidates still to interview is Brian Schottenheimer according to Sports Illustrated’s Peter King.
Team officials met with Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier on Saturday. The two sides met for over four hours, which seemed to squash any concerns Frazier had about the interview just being scheduled to satisfy the league’s Rooney Rule.
Not that there was any question, but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed that the Seahawks have satisfied the Rooney Rule.
It has been widely reported that Carroll’s deal with the team is worth $35 million over five years, although it could be actually turn out to be $32.5 million. Still, that’s not chump change.
