Report: Saints to Reward Drew Brees with New Contract

The New Orleans Saints are set to reward quarterback Drew Brees with a contract extension for his excellent play this season and a trip to the Super Bowl.

Currently, Brees is only the 17th-highest paid quarterback in the NFL. However, the Saints plan to re-work his deal later this year that will bring his pay more in line with the game’s elite quarterbacks.

New Orleans’ Super Bowl opponents, the Indianapolis Colts, recently announced that Peyton Manning will also be getting a new contract that will make him the highest-paid player in the NFL.

It’s unclear if Brees’ new deal will be in that range, but he will most certainly be comfortable.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the deal should be wrapped up by the time the team breaks training camp next summer.
