Report: Redskins Want to Trade Defensive Linemen with Rams

The Washington Redskins have contacted the St. Louis Rams about a possible trade for defensive lineman Adam Carriker.

Newly hired Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett is reportedly high on the 25-year-old according to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network.

Drafted 13th overall in 2007 by the Rams, Carriker has drawn criticism by some who feel he hasn’t lived up to his potential.

He missed the 2009 season due to a right shoulder injury and the Rams could be open to a deal before next month’s draft.

The Redskins already signed former Carolina Panthers nose tackle Maake Kemoeatu, but need all the help they can get as they shift to a 3-4 defense.

There are rumblings that the Redskins could be looking to move Andre Carter in the deal. He’s reportedly “very open” to leaving Washington if the right situation comes along despite having a no-trade clause in his contract.
