Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks coach Hue Jackson is set to the become the new offensive coordinator of the Oakland Raiders according to ESPN’s Michael Smith.

Jackson will take over the offense from head coach Tom Cable who was strongly rumored to be shown the door this off-season.

Jackson’s experience with quarterbacks likely played a big part in Al Davis’ decision to hire him. Davis has stated time and again that he wants JaMarcus Russell to be the quarterback of the team. As a QB coach, Jackson will be able to closely work with the former No. 1 overall pick.

Jackson and Cable have previously worked together at Cal State Fullerton in 1990 and Cal in 1996.

Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Jackson has now canceled his interview with the Bears.
