Michael Vick (Patriot News)
The Philadelphia Eagles won’t be getting rid of Michael Vick after all… at least according to one report.
“They have no intention this offseason of trading Michael Vick,” Michael Lombardi said on NFL Total Access on Tuesday. “Many people around the league feel like that’s a lot of false bravado, (and) they’re going to release him, because he has a ($1.5 million) roster bonus due in March. Not the case.”
Vick has made it clear that he would like to be a starting quarterback next season. However, he hasn’t completely ruled out staying in Philadelphia either.
“I would really have to think about it,” Vick said about staying in Philadelphia during an interview with Dan Patrick. “I like the coaching staff. I like the people around there. Maybe I would do it. Who knows?”
Should he stay with the Eagles, there is little chance that Vick would be the man as Andy Reid has already told Donovan McNabb that he will retain the starting job in 2010.
The Eagles have to pay Vick a roster bonus of $1.5 million on March 5. With incentives his salary could balloon to $5.25 million (including the roster bonus) next season.
