Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook may be forced to retire due to lingering injuries.
Although concussions cut short Westbrook’s 2009 season, it is an ongoing left knee problem that is the cause for concern according to Howard Eskin of NBC Philadelphia’s Sports Final.
The talented Eagles running back has undergone multiple surgeries to repair the damage he has sustained over his NFL career.
Philadelphia is due to pay Westrbook a $7.25 million salary in 2010, but there is “almost no chance” he will be with the team at that point according to Eskin.
There are also rumblings that he may not be able to pass a physical to play for another team.
Westbrook is scheduled to meet with doctors shortly to determine his future in the league.
