Report: Cardinals Actively Trying to Trade Matt Leinart

Matt Leinart

Matt Leinart is on the trading block according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer

While Matt Leinart believes he has “out played the competition,” the Arizona Cardinals apparently feel otherwise.

The team is actively seeking a trade for the 2006 first-round draft pick according to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer.

We reported earlier Tuesday that the team may wind up releasing Leinart in an effort to cut their losses and save next year’s $7.36 million base salary and $5.5 million roster bonus.

It’s hard to believe the team could get more than a sixth- or seventh-round pick for him at this point, but that would certainly be better than nothing.

Derek Anderson will start Thursday’s preseason finale.
