The Chicago Bears are running away with Julius Peppers sweepstakes while the Washington Redskins have faded away.

Peppers boarded a plane bound for Chicago with Lovie Smith on board early Friday morning according to multiple sources.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes that the deal should be wrapped up by Friday afternoon.

Mike Florio of PFT reports that the Redskins are flat out of the running.

G.M. Bruce Allen did not talk to Carl Carey, Peppers’ agent, in the opening hour of the NFL free agency period.
