Aubrayo Franklin
The San Francisco 49ers are expected to use their franchise tag on defensive tackle Aubrayo Franklin.
With the deadline for using the franchise tag coming on Feb. 25, the 49ers decided to lock up Franklin according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
He will earn about $7 million next season with the tag applied.
The team may still offer him another long-term contract this week, but it is unlikely he would sign at this point.
Franklin was expected to be one of the most sought after defensive free agents on the market this offseason.
Other defensive tackles that could have the tag applied to them are Vince Wilfork of the New England Patriots and Casey Hampton of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
