Pats LB Spikes Loses Endorsement Deal With Reebok After Sex Tape

Reebok pulled an endorsement deal with Patriots rookie LB Brandon Spikes following the emergence of a sex tape he was involved with on Tuesday.

Patriots rookie LB Brandon Spikes is already feeling the repercussions of his involvement in a internet sex tape, as Reebok have backtracked on finalizing an endorsement deal with the 22-year-old.

Spike’s agent Terry Watson sent confirmation to the Boston Globe on Wednesday that Reebok had pulled their deal, worth $60,000 plus on-field incentives. Watson said he did place a call to a Reebok executive to discuss the circumstances, but that Spikes understands the severity of the situation.

“He’s OK,” Watson said. “There’s nothing he can do about it now but continue to be the person he is, and the kind of leader he will be on and off the field. He can’t rewind what occurred, but he’s been through adversity with football and off the field, like we all have, and knows how to deal with it.”

Watson also elaborated on the details surrounding the tape, which hit the internet on Tuesday. “It was something that occurred before he became an NFL draftee and a New England Patriot,” he said. “I think for anyone it would be an embarrassing situation. Brandon has shown to many people the kind of person he is before and after being drafted in the second round. He’s hoping to put this behind him and looks forward to having a great football season.”

The NFL is currently investigating Spikes, the Patriots 2nd round draft pick this year, under the stipulations of their player conduct policy.  If found in violation, the former Florida defensive captain could face a fine and possible suspension.
