The Washington Redskins plan to meet with Mike Zimmer of the Cincinnati Bengals should the team lose their opening round playoff game to the New York Jets this weekend.
The team is “very interested” in bringing him in as their defensive coordinator according to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com.
However, Zimmer is also rumored to be on the list of a number of teams for their head coaching position.
Also on the Redskins’ list of candidates to interview is Jim Haslett, former head coach of the New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Rams.
Haslett reportedly wants to bring defensive line coach Tim Krumrie should he get a job in the NFL next season.
That scenario might just work as the Redskins will likely clear house of their coaching staff now that Mike Shanahan is in town.

yeah I can see it.
Zimmer: this is what they’re offering, can you match it?
Mike Brown: . . .
Both: Hahahahahahaha!
Mike Brown: Well it’s been nice winning, so long!
He can go back and tell Mike Brown “this is what they’re offering, can you match it?” but what makes anyone believe the Bengals would match it? It’s not really in their history. Doesn’t mean he’s going to the Skins, but I don’t think Zimmer is foolish enough to play those types of games if he gets a great offer in DC.
I don’t think Zimmer will go to Washington. I think he will interview, then go back and tell Mike Brown, “this is what they’re offering, can you match it?” The one exception would be if Snyder can convince him that they will bring his son along. No one can turn down working alongside their son.
