Larry Johnson
The Washington Redskins signed free agent running back Larry Johnson on Friday—their fourth signing this week.
Johnson and the Redskins agreed to a three-year, $12 million deal according to Jason Reid of the Washington Post.
The 30-year-old running back split time between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals last season after being released by the former due to remarks against the team.
On the year Johnson carried the ball 178 times for 581 yards, but did not find the end zone.
He last had a 1,000 yard season in 2006 when he racked up 1,789 yards for the Chiefs.
“We are excited to bring in a running back that has had so much success in this league,” Coach Mike Shanahan said Friday night. “Larry is a physical runner who will be a great addition to our backfield.”
Johnson will back up Clinton Portis who seems to be improving his offseason training routine.
