Redskins Place Tender on Campbell, Could Still Part Ways

Jason Campbell

The Washington Redskins placed a first-round tender on quarterback Jason Campbell on Wednesday according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The move gives the impression that Mike Shanahan and company are willing to part ways with the quarterback whom they drafted in the first-round of the 2005 draft. As Mike Florio of PFT eluded to, the team could have placed a first and third-round tender on Campbell which would have made it a lot more difficult for another team to sign.

What does all this mean? It means that if a team makes an offers Campbell a contract, the Redskins would have seven days to match the deal or accept a first-round draft pick as compensation.

It has been rumored for some time that the Redskins will be taking a quarterback with the fourth overall pick in the draft.

Jimmy Clausen from Notre Dame continues to be the leading candidate to come to Washington.
