London Fletcher
Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher made his first Pro Bowl by virtue of the New Orleans Saints victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
The 12-year veteran of the NFL will replace Saints MLB Jonathan Vilma who will skip the game as he prepares for the Super Bowl.
There was a campaign of sorts in Washington to elect Fletcher to the Pro Bowl as voting came to a close this season. Undoubtedly he is deserving of the honor, but a tough season for the Redskins could have hurt his chances of being elected by popular vote.
Regardless of how he got there, he is happy to be there.
“12 years and one overtime later…. FINALLY Pro Bowl bound,” Fletcher wrote on Twitter after the Saints won in overtime. “Well worth the wait! God is great!!!”
The honors don’t stop there either. He was also announced as one of three finalists for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award on Sunday.
