The Washington Redskins officially announced that Lou Spanos has been hired as their new linebackers coach on Saturday.
Interestingly, the team also retained Kirk Olivadotti who served in that role last season.
Olivadotti will now take the title of “defensive assistant” with the Redskins.
Spanos worked under new defensive coordinator Jim Haslett with the Pittsburgh Steelers for a time.
“Lou has been a vital part of a Steelers defense that has had an amazing run of success of the last 15 years, particularly from the linebacker position,” Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said in a team statement on Saturday.
