Redskins Hire Bobby Turner as Associate Head Coach

The Washington Redskins and Mike Shanahan have hired Bobby Turner of the Denver Broncos to be the team’s new associate head coach according to the Denver Post.

Turner has been the Broncos running backs coach since 1995, when Shanahan was first hired.

A Turner departure to Washington did not seem likely at first as the team denied the Redskins request to interview him, but eventually relinquished after Rick Dennison was permitted to speak with the Houston Texans.

In addition to reuniting with Shanahan, the veteran coach will be paired up with Clinton Portis once again, whom he drafted out of college.

However, Portis’ status in Washington remains anything but certain after a lackluster, injury filled season and criticism from players and coaches.
