The Baltimore Ravens will travel south to FedEx Field to face off against the Washington Redskins in a battle of the beltways Saturday at 7p.m.
This will be the second preseason game for both teams. The Ravens, led by starting quarterback Joe Flacco, defeated the Carolina Panthers 17-12 at M&T Bank Stadium last weekend, while the Redskins dismantled the Buffalo Bills 42-17 in Washington.
Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh believes the key to his team’s success is found in its roster, which houses a good mix of players from veterans to rookies.
“We have these veteran pillars on our team who are over 30,” Harbaugh said in a Ravens press release. “There are guys like Ray [Lewis], Ed [Reed]…Then we have some of the best young players in the NFL like Ray [Rice], Joe [Flacco]…And, we have a middle-aged group that includes players like Anquan [Boldin]…It’s a good blend built for the long haul.”
In the Ravens victory against Carolina, a mixture of players with varying experience stepped up for Baltimore to contribute. Flacco finished 8-for-12 with 120 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown pass to veteran wide receiver Mark Clayton.
Some key Ravens players have been sidelined this preseason due to injuries, including Reed (hip), starting cornerback Domonique Foxworth (knee) and Brendon Ayanbadejo (thigh).
This Saturday’s contest will mark the sixth preseason game between Baltimore and Washington. The Ravens are ahead in the series, 3-2, including a 23-0 win last preseason.
