Billy Cundiff will compete with Shayne Graham for the Ravens kicking job.
They say that competition brings out the best in a man. The Baltimore Ravens are hoping that saying holds true for kickers Billy Cundiff and Shayne Graham.
The team signed Graham, a long-time kicker of the Cincinnati Bengals, back on June 3 to compete with Cundiff for the starting job.
The incumbent kicker knows it’s just part of the job and realizes he could be facing a tough battle against the man who is ranked fourth most accurate in NFL history. Still, he’s not fazed and is taking it all in stride.
“They’ve got to do what’s best for the team,” Cundiff said Tuesday, per Edward Lee of the Baltimore Sun. “I knew that going in, and this is exactly where I knew I was going to be.”
Cundiff successfully connected on 12-of-17 field goal attempts with the Ravens last season. He was also perfect on PAT attempts.
