Rams Lose Avery for Season, Bradford Needs Go-to Guy

Donnie Avery

Rams WR Donnie Avery will miss the 2010 season with a torn ACL

It’s official. The St. Louis Rams will be without wide receiver Donnie Avery this season after an MRI confirmed he tore his ACL in Thursday’s exhibition against the New England Patriots.

Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo confirmed the news during his Friday conference call with reporters.

His absence means rookie Sam Bradford will have to find a new No. 1 target.

If Thursday’s game is any indication, rookie tight end Michael Hoomanawanui could fill the roll. Two of Hoomanawanui’s four catches were touchdown passes from Bradford.
