Jay Alford was signed by the Oakland Raiders Wednesday morning
Oakland Raiders defensive line guru Mike Waufle will have a familiar face to coach this season.
The Raiders signed New York Giants 2007 third-round pick Jay Alford on Wednesday. He was waived by the G-Men over the weekend as they trimmed their roster to league-maximum 53 players.
Alford, 27, was on the shelf all of last season with a knee injury.
He is best known for a key sack of Tom Brady in Super Bowl XLII that propelled the Giants to a 17-14 win over the New England Patriots.
To make room for him on the roster, the Raiders cut offensive lineman Erik Pears.
