Tom Cable
The Oakland Raiders have been secretly interviewing candidates for their head coaching position.
Despite the fact that Al Davis is yet to cut ties with Tom Cable, the team has interviewed former New York Giants coach Jim Fassel and former Raiders offensive coordinator Marc Trestman according to David White of the San Francisco Chronicle.
The team is also reportedly interested in interviewing former Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride and Green Bay Packers assistant head coach Winston Moss, both of whom were candidates for the position last season.
Mike Florio of PFT points out that an interview with Moss would satisfy the NFL’s Rooney Rule, meaning the team can pull the trigger on Cable at any time.
But will they? Davis might just be seeing what’s available before making a final decision on Cable.
If the four candidates mentioned above don’t float Davis’ boat, there are two other names that have bubbled up.
Current Stanford Coach Jim Harbaugh and former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach are also in the mix.
