Chad Pennington will remain with the Miami Dolphins next season.

The free agent quarterback signed a one-year $2.5 million contract late Friday to stay in South Florida.

It appeared that Pennington would be headed out of town Friday morning after the Dolphins refused to put a no-trade clause in his contract.

After a day of negotiations the two parties agreed to compromise. Should the Dolphins trade Pennington they would have to shell out an additional $1.5 million to the quarterback according Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald.

Barring a lockout in the 2011 season, we could see a similar situation one year from now.
