Patriots to Start Sammy Morris over Maroney at RB vs. Rams

Sammy Morris

RB Sammy Morris will start over RB Laurence Maroney in the Patriots' preseason meeting with St. Louis tonight.

The Patriots made a last-minute switch, decided to start RB Sammy Morris over Laurence Maroney in tonight’s preseason game vs. St. Louis.

According to “The Sports Hub” 98.5′s pregame show, Belichick changed his mind shortly before the game, even though Maroney has only seen 12 snaps so far this preseason and didn’t even make it onto the field in the team’s 28-10 win vs. Atlanta last week.

Maroney told reporters on Wednesday that “the best is yet to come” from him. However, with Morris pegged to start tonight and Ben-Jarvis Green and Kevin Faulk already notching a start under their belts, Maroney looks like the odd one out.

Although he didn’t play in the team’s opener vs. New Orleans, Morris looked effective in last week’s game, gaining 52 yards and a TD on only 6 carries.
