New England Patriots cornerback Shawn Springs is considering retirement to go back to school.

The retirement talk from the 13-year NFL veteran comes despite signing a 3-year deal with the team last season.

“Maybe,” Springs said on ESPN’s First Take Wednesday morning. “I actually feel like I can still play a lot. I don’t know yet.”

Let it not be said that he’s not a smart guy. One of the things he’s considering doing in his free time is attending law school.

Law school would be a great option,” he said. “Maybe I could negotiate with some of the owners and GMs in the NFL about some of these players coming out. Maybe I could be an agent.”

He wouldn’t be the first player turned agent to come out of the NFL.

Still, he could find himself back on the Patriots sidelines for the next two seasons.

“I have so many options right now. I still really enjoy playing football.”

Should we add his name to the Brett Favre and Kurt Warner retirement watch list?
