It’s hard to ignore a player who is said to be running the 40-yard dash in 4.2 seconds – even with the baggage of cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones.

Jones conducted a workout in front of at least four NFL teams today, despite a false report that Jones was a no show. According to NFL.com the Lions, 49ers, Saints and Jaguars were in attendance, with Detroit and San Francisco meeting with Jones privately as well.

In an attempt bounce back from his troubled past, Jones has been working out with a trainer who said he has recently added seven pounds, dropped his body fat to 4% and can run the 40-yard dash in 4.2 seconds.

According to NFL.com, Jones ran the 40 in 4.42 and 4.48 seconds on Friday.

Jones, 26, was the sixth overall pick of the Titans in 2005 and played under Lions coach Jim Schwartz in Tennessee in 2005-06.

Even if Jones is in top shape, teams will want to make sure Jones has put behind his old ways before offering what would be a risky contract, considering Jones may be down to his last chance before being kicked out of the league for good.

Jones also worked out for the Bengals on Feb. 11 which is thought to be his first workout since being released by the Cowboys in Feb. 2009.

Having sat out the 2009 season, today’s workout could be the cornerback’s final chance at landing on an NFL roster.
