During an interview on NY/NJ radio station WFAN on Wednesday, New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora threatened to quit playing football if he did not have a starting role in 2010.
“I’m not going to be a back up player, I can promise you that,” Umenyiora said. “I’ll stop playing football before I do that ever again. This has been just the worst offseason of my entire life.”
With Perry Fewell joining the team as defensive coordinator, it looks like Umenyiora will get his wish and start in 2010 after his late-season benching in 2009. Fewell has already suggested that he sees Umenyiora as a starter on his team.
