Oakland Raiders Switch DE Alex Daniels to Fullback

Alex Daniels

Alex Daniels was moved to fullback after impressing coaches this week.

Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable must have liked what he saw on Wednesday when he experimented with rookie defensive end Alex Daniels at fullback.

The team announced that Daniels would be moved over to the offense full-time starting Sunday.

This may be the best shot the undrafted rookie out of Cincinnati has to make the team. And he’s just happy to get a shot, no matter where he’s lining up.

If I gotta play fullback, if I gotta play center, if I gotta go get the water, then I’m going to do it,” Daniels said Wednesday. “Commitment to excellence, that’s what I want to do.”

Before settling on Daniels, Cable also gave Lamarr Houston a look at fullback.

Daniels will now wear No. 39.
