The Oakland Raiders are denying reports that Tom Cable will be back as their head coach in 2010.

Shortly after news broke that Al Davis was going to retain Cable, Raiders senior executive John Herrera got in touch with the Associated Press and made it clear that no decision had been made.

“We’ve never made any statement that the head coach would not be back, that has been media speculation from the beginning,” Herrera said. “We’ve consistently stated that we’re going through an evaluation process to determine the direction that the organization needs to go. The process is ongoing and has not reached a conclusion.”

Last week the Raiders were busy denying rumors that they met with a number of candidates to replace Cable, including Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh.

And the drama in Raider nation continues…
