NY Jets Lead Colts 17-13 at Halftime of AFC Championship

Before Sunday’s AFC Championship game New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan stated that his defense had something special prepared for Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts offense. He was right… for the most part.

The Colts made it to the red zone and three times and only came away with a touchdown once.

Meanwhile the longest play in Jets postseason history gave New York the lead early in the second quarter and they haven’t given it up. Mark Sanchez connected with Braylon Edwards for an 80-yard touchdown on that play.

Overall, Sanchez was 5-of-7 passing for 124 yards and two touchdowns in the first half.

Edwards, thanks in large part to the 80-yarder, amassed 100 yards receiving in the first half on just two catches.

Peyton Manning was 11-of-18 passing for 218 yards and didn’t find the end zone until the end of the second quarter. Still, statistically he’s on pace for a 400+ yard passing day.

Austin Collie is the game’s leading receiver with five receptions for 105 yards and Indy’s only touchdown.

The Colts running game has been somewhat limited by the Jets defense, gaining just 49 yards on the ground.

Joseph Addai missed a chunk of the first half with a shoulder injury, but was able to return.
