The New York Giants waived third-round draft pick Chad Jones on Thursday.
Jones was severely injured in a June car crash in Louisiana that may have ended his NFL career before it even began.
The move was made with two accomplish to things. First, the Giants cleared a spot on the roster.
Second, and more importantly, he will be placed on the reserve/non football injury list upon clearing waivers according to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger.
Although the Giants are under no obligation to pay him, other than the $850,000 signing bonus he already received, they will likely take care of him in some fashion.
They have been nothing but good to Jones and his family since the accident.
The Giants claimed defensive end Alex Hall off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles to fill the empty roster spot.
