Without a doubt, Matt Cassel will be the Chiefs starting quarterback this season.
Not that there was any question, but the Kansas City Chiefs starting quarterback in 2010 will be Matt Cassel.
Despite a lackluster 2009 debut season with the Chiefs, the starting job “unequivocally” belongs to Cassel according to Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star.
With a revamped coaching staff that includes new offensive coordinator Charlie Weis who previously worked with Cassel in New England.
Weis’ goal is to fine-tune his throwing motion and decision-making.
If Cassel continues to struggle Brodie Coyle is waiting in the wings.
The Chiefs don’t want that to happen, however, as Tom Brady’s former backup will earn a base salary of $11.75 million this season.
