Michael Irvin
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and current NFL Network host Michael Irvin is fighting to clear his name after he was accused of raping a woman at a Florida hotel.
An unidentified woman filed a civil suit against the future NFL Hall of Famer on Thursday in Broward Circuit Court.
The alleged incident occured at the Siminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on July 4th or 5th in 2007. However, the accuser did not report the attack to police until two weeks later on July 20.
Attornies for the football great are claiming that the woman’s allegations are “totally untrue” and that “beyond perhaps meeting her, there was nothing” between the two.
Irvin and his attornies have turned down the accuser’s settlement proposals of $1 million and $800,000 saying that the “complaint is tantamount to criminal extortion.”
Despite Irvin sticking by his story, his Dallas based ESPN radio show was taken off the air once the lawsuit was filed.
Perhaps that was the last straw for Irvin who then filed a $100 million countersuit against the woman on Friday afternoon. The lawsuit was filed on the basis that the accuser is trying to extort money from him.
