NFL players aren’t the only ones who traveled to Miami for the Pro Bowl game. The specially chosen Pro Bowl Cheerleaders, one from each team, are also in FL this week and are making a difference. Groups of cheerleaders split up to visit different organizations nearby.

One group of cheerleaders and mascots visited the Homestead Air Reserve Base where workers put in long hours for relief efforts. The surprise visit was well received.

US Airmen from all over the country are together at Homestead to support relief efforts. They have delivered more than 2 million pounds of supplies to Haiti since mid January. Staff Sgt. Brandon Saludares came to FL from Beale Air Force base in California and appreciated the visit. He said, ”I’m away from my family right now and working long hours and crazy shifts. For the NFL cheerleaders to come out and give up a morale booster, it’s wonderful and really helps out while we’re deployed.”

The US Air Force’s official website says, “The NFL has held a close relationship with the U.S. military by supporting servicemembers whether at their home stations or while deployed to combat operations or humanitarian relief efforts.”

Miami Dolphins’ captain and representative for the Pro Bowl team, Tiffany Pearl, said, ”We get to do these incredible events. One of them is reaching out to the community and coming here to the Homestead military base.”

According to the 2010 NFL Pro Bowl Cheerleaders’ official Facebook page, the ladies “had a great open practice at Lockhart Stadium today.”
