NFL on FOX Does Huge Rating for NFC Championship

NFL on FOX

Sunday’s NFC Championship game between the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings was the most watched conference championship in nearly 30 years.

The last time the NFL saw ratings like this for a game other than the Super Bowl was in January of 1982 when the 49ers tangled with the Cowboys and Joe Montana hit Dwight Clark in the end zone for “The Catch.”

Taking football out of the equation altogether, the broadcast was the most-viewed non-Super Bowl telecast since the Seinfeld series finale in 1998.

The game, which very well could be the last for Brett Favre, averaged 52.9 million viewers.

Overall, both conference championship games averaged a 34 percent increase in viewership over last season according to PFT.

The fact that the game went into overtime was just a bonus for FOX.
