The Philadelphia Eagles were hoping to sign fullback Leonard Weaver to a new contract by the time free agency begins at midnight. It doesn’t appear that will happen.

However, in an effort to keep Weaver around next season the team placed a second-round tender on him as they hammer out a details on a new long-term deal.

Also offered tenders of varying levels were Ellis Hobbs (CB), Nick Cole (G/C), Omar Gaither (LB), Chris Gocong (LB), Max Jean-Gilles (G), Akeem Jordan (LB), Sav Rocca (P) and Alex Smith (TE).

In other NFC East notes, the Washington Redskins released ten players on Thursday while working on a new deal with center Casey Rabach.

That deal should be completed before the free agent market opens up at midnight according to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network.
