Sean Payton
The New Orleans Saints have reimbursed head coach Sean Payton $250,000 in salary that he forfeited to land defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.
In a bid to land Williams last offseason, Payton reportedly gave up that chunk of his salary to lessen the financial burden on the Saints’ organization.
With the success New Orleans had this season—a 13-3 regular season record and a trip to the Super Bowl—the team saw fit to repay their head coach according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.
In fact, they paid him back in Week 9 when the team was still undefeated.
Williams led the Saints to one of the best turnover producing defenses in the league.
