Bruce Feldman of ESPN is reporting that Titans defensive back Myron Rolle has been waived.
Rolle famously gave up a year of football in order to study at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar prompting questions about his commitment to playing. Despite the fall in his stock, the Titans made him their sixth round pick in this year’s NFL draft.
During his college career, Rolle was the third leading tackler on his team (final year), an Associated Press third-team all-American, and a finalist for the Lott Trophy defensive player of the year award.
Despite his accolades he finished his three-year college career with just one interception and that may have contributed to his fall in the draft.
Though he missed out on the active roster, the Titans can still choose to sign him to their practice squad if he clears waivers.
