Peyton Manning
Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts are headed to the Super Bowl after coming from behind in the second half to defeat the New York Jets 30-17 in Sunday’s AFC Championship game.
Manning was masterful in his performance, completing 26 of 19 passing attempts for 377 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Pierre Garçon and Austin Collie seemed unstoppable at times against the Jets defense. Neither player got stranded on Revis Island.
Garçon caught 11 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown while Collie grabbed seven passes of his own for 123 yards and one touchdown.
Kicker Matt Stover was perfect connecting on all three of his field goal attempts and extra points.
That was not the case for Jets kicker Jay Feeley who was just 1-for-3, missing from 44 and 48 yards.
Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez had a strong showing in his first trip to the AFC Championship. He was 17-of-30 passing for 257 yards, two touchdowns and one interceptions.
Running back Shonn Greene injured his ribs early in the third quarter and was unable to return. He finished the game with 10 carries for 41 yards.
Thomas Jones entered the game in relief and carried the ball 16 times for 42 yards.
The Colts now await the winner of the New Orleans Saints vs. Minnesota Vikings NFC Championship game.
