Following a 2009 season where he was blamed for many of the New York Giants’ defensive struggles, Lions safety C.C. Brown feels fortunate to be out of the Big Apple.
Brown has a good shot at the starting safety spot opposite Louis Delmas; however Brown seems to be more than relieved just to be away from New York – and their pesky media.
According to the Detroit News, Brown was pretty upset about how he was treated by Giants fans and the New York tabloid media, who joked that his initials stood for “Can’t Cover.”
“I don’t even want to comment on that, because I still, at times, get sensitive about how they did me (wrong) there,” Brown said. “The biggest thing with New York is the media controls the team. So whatever the media says, that’s what’s gonna happen.”
And Brown appeared desperate to get out at any cost – without even knowing anything about the city or team. When asked what he knew about Detroit’s coaching staff, Brown replied:
“I didn’t know nothin’,” he said. “I just knew Detroit had a football team. That’s pretty much all I know.”
